Favorite Face Masks

background image

I am obsessed with face masks. I use one at least 3-4 times a week.  They are great way to treat your skin and target certain issues without changing up too much of your skincare routine.  Because I use them so often, I have a bunch that I switch out based on what my skin needs.   I mainly use masks to control and treat acne, for extra hydration and to detoxify my skin.  Here are some of my favorites.

1. Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask, REN - I eyed this mask for a while, read reviews and saw it just about everywhere before I made the plunge and bought it.  I like to use this when my skin feels dull and congested.  It has a four-fruit acid complex (lactic, glycolic, tartaric, and citric) and papain enzyme that gently exfoliates your skin leaving it glowing and healthy.  No matter what my skin is doing, this just makes it better.

2. Perfect Pumpkin Peeling Enzyme Mask, June Jacobs - This is a fantastic mask when I need to exfoliate my skin. It is said to "digest dead surface cells" and that is exactly what it does.  My skin ends up so soft and smooth after using.

3. SuperMud Clearing Treatment, GlamGlow - This is probably one of the best skin clearing masks I have used.  When my skin is in bad shape, I like to use this a couple times a week and then drop that down to every other week to maintain.  It works extremely well to combat oil and clear skin.

4Luminizing Black Mask, Boscia - This is another mask that I like to use when my skin is feeling dull and congested, yet this works a bit differently.  This is a peel off mask that looks (and feels) almost like black Elmer's glue.  You spread it onto your skin, and wait for it to completely dry.  Then you peel it off and any dead skin and surface congestion just kind of peels off with it.  Think of it as a giant Biore strip for your face.

5. Tea Tree Face Mask, The Body Shop - Tea Tree oil is great for acne prone skin.  It is a natural antiseptic and calms red spots.  This mask gives an extra dose of tea tree over spot treating with an oil.

6. Drink Up 10 Minute Mask, Origins - This is a great quick 10 minute does of hydration.  I like to use this about once a week to keep my skin moisturized and soft.  Its also great when my skin is a little extra dry to rid of any dry spots.  I also really love the apricot scent of this.

7. ThirtsyMud Hydrating Treatment, GlamGlow - Another fantastic hydrating mask, this can heal my skin when its at its absolute driest   I slather it on and can either tissue it off after 10 to 20 minutes, or sleep in it overnight for smooth hydrated skin.

8. Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask, Origins - This is a must have for my acne prone skin.  It  contains sulfur which helps the body create collagen (which makes your skin younger looking) and calms red irritated skin.  It also contains zinc oxide which heals and repairs damaged cell tissues and heal wounds.  My skin instantly looks better after using this.  It is a great less expensive alternative to the SuperMud.

Sunday Lusts

background image

1. Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in MuseHourglass - I have been obsessed with Liquid Lipsticks lately and have heard so many good things about Hourglass lip products.  This color is beautiful.

2. Instant Texture Mist, Living Proof - I love using texturizing sprays to add texture and volume to my hair.  I really like Living Proof products and I especially like that this is a misting pump so to not add to much product.

3. Orange Sanguine Cologne Absolue, Atelier Cologne - I haven't actually smelled this but I am dying to. I have really wanted to try an Atelier Cologne scent and since I love blood orange I thought this would be a perfect little spray to sample.

4. Cityswept Finishing Spray, Bumble and Bumble - I don't really like waxy pomades so I like that this is a spray balm to hold your style in place.

5. Fusion Ink Foundation, Yves Saint Laurent - I love YSL Touche Eclat Foundation, so I am eager to try some of their other foundations.  This one is brand new and said to light weight high coverage.

6. Marchive Clutch, Marc By Marc Jacobs - One thing that I don't have a lot of are clutches, especially a black clutch.  I saw this in Nordstrom over the weekend and it is a great size yet not to bulky.

July Favorites

Disclaimer:  Unless otherwise notated, all products mentioned were purchased by me.  All options expressed are my own.

I hope everyone had a great July.  Now that August is here, I have a bunch of products to share that I really enjoyed during the Month of July.  I feel like I tried a lot of new things, so this months list is HUGE, so let's jump right in.

Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo and Conditioner, Oribe - I love Oribe products.  They are rather pricey but smell amazing and work really well.  I was in the market for new shampoo and conditioner and eager to try a pair from Oribe.  After researching just about every product in their line, I decided on this Gold Lust duo.

Flex Shaping Hairspray, Living Proof - This came in a Living Proof 500 Point perk from Sephora.  I kind of tossed it aside at first but then found myself with so many smaller sized hairsprays that I started using them up.  This was one that I found myself really enjoying.  It gives good hold, but feels so light on the hair that it almost feels as if you are not wearing hairspray at all.  I am considering buying this full size, I liked it that much.

Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp, NYX - I saw this in Pretty Shiny Sparkly's June Favorites and really loved the color.  I had used these creams in the past and loved them, so I had to run right out and buy this.

Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in Always Apricot, L'Oreal - I am in love with this color.  It is a beautiful soft reddish orange color that can be worn day or night.

Vitality Lip Flush 4-in-1 Reviver Lipstick Stain in Pretty Woman, It Cosmetics - In the tube this looks like something I would have worn in the 90s but sheered out on the lips it gives such a great berry stain.  I also really love the formula on this.  It is super moisturizing and I love that it is an anti-aging lip balm.

Long Lasting Nail Lacquer in Hot Coral, Estee Lauder - This is one of two colors that I wore all month.  When I wanted a bright color, this is what I grabbed for. This is more of a reddish coral and remains me of poppies.

Essie Urban Jungle Nail Polish - The first time I saw this polish, I had to have it.  It is the color I have been waiting for for years and the color I have been wearing when not wearing Hot Coral.  I love the look of white nails, but stark white is just too harsh for me.  This is a softer hue with just a hint of cream so it doesn't look like you put white out on your nails.  LOVE IT!

Color Mascara in Purple, NYX - I always wear purple eyeliner.  It adds just a bit of color to my eyes and makes my eyes pop.  Every once in a while I also like to wear a purple mascara (for the same reasons).  This one is inexpensive and very pigmented and vibrant.  I usually tone it down slightly by using one coat of black mascara underneath for just a subtle dose of color, but on it's own it is gorgeous.

Playsticks, Benefit Cosmetics - I used to use Playsticks a million years ago and loved the coverage.  I didn't know Benefit still made them until I spotted them in Ulta one afternoon.  These are an all in one product (foundation, concealer and powder) so like to keep it in my bag for touchups through out the day. Super easy!

Shea Butter White Lily Hand Cream, Perlier - This is a product that was sent to me and when I received it, I was surprised at how huge it is.  After using it, I was further surprised with just how moisturizing it was.  I use hand cream numerous times throughout the day but with this, I didn't need to reapply at all.

Stay Clear Cream, Evologie - I received this in a Birchbox forever ago and tossed it to the side.  I finally tried it when I finish up my Proactiv repair cream and was please with how much I liked it.  It is pretty comparable to my Proactiv cream.

Tuscan Blood Orange Hand Cream, Pacifica - Blood Orange is one of my favorite scents and I have loved this scent from Pacifica for years.  This has been a handbag staple all month.  Every time I pull it out people comment on how great it smells. And on the plus, it is super moisturizing.

Scandal Eyes Retoglam Mascara, Rimmel London - This may just end up being my favorite drugstore mascara.  I love the full wand and the formula really lengthens and volumizes my lashes.

What were you favorite products last month?

Sunday Lusts

1. 'Rouge Pur Couture' Lip Color in #10 Beige TributeYves Saint Laurent - I love YSL lip sticks.  I don't have any nudes in my collection and this one is gorgeous!

2. Activate Facial MaskHerbivore Botanicals - I have had my eye on this mask since I first discovered Herbivore Botanicals on Etsy.  This mask gives a deep cleansing and detoxification for your skin.

3. Brightening Blush, Bobbi Brown - I love Bobbi Brown and haven't met a product that I didn't like.  Who doesn't want a blush that brightens and glows?

4. Perfect Foundation Brush, Shiseido - I have been using a foundation brush a lot lately rather than using my Beauty Blender.  This brush got rave reviews and I love how the bristles are short and dense.

5. Velvetine Matte Lipstick in Suede Berry, Lime Crime - I first saw this color on instagram.  I saw a photo of a girl with the most beautiful lip color so I had to comment and ask what it was.  This color has been out of stock everywhere since but I NEED to have it!

6. Double Wear All-Day Glow BB Moisture Make-up, Estee Lauder - I have heard nothing but good things about Estee Lauder's Double Wear Foundation.  I think it might be a little too heavy for this time of year, but I am eager to try the BB cream.

7. Pore Reform Skin Smoothing Polish, Murad - I have been enjoying skin polishes and I love that this one contains witch hazel.

Friday Finds

It's been quite a while since my last Friday Finds, so it was quite difficult narrowing down a very long list of recent website finds.  I really love sharing some of the blogs, shopping sites, instagram accounts, etc, that I come across and really really love, so I am hoping to bring this feature back more regularly.  Until then, here are some of my recent finds and new faves.

Life with Red is a relevantly new blog but after participating in Blog Everyday in July, there is a lot to read.  I love how much personally Kathleen puts in her posts

I first discovered Charlotte on instagram when she commented on one of my photos.  I immediately checked out her blog.  From product reviews to DYI's to tutorials, she is definitely one to watch.

I love subscription boxes.  I have a huge boxes of unused trial sized samples and I can not get enough.  I may have been living under a rock, but I recently discovered BeautyBar.com's Sample Society.  For $15/month, you get five deluxe sized beauty samples selected from the editors of Allure magazine, a mini mag, and a $10 BeautyBar.com gift card.  I haven't received mine yet, but past boxes look AMAZING and Allure is one of my favorite magazines.

B Is For Bonnie Design
I am a sucker for cute notebooks.  Its kind of a problem for me . . . I may or may not hoard them.  When I saw these absolutely adorable notebooks on instagram I knew I stalked the interwebs until I found them.  Not only does Bonnie have a couple cute notebooks, she also has some amazing prints and pencils up on her website.

I am not a crazy cat lady . . . I swear . . . okay maybe just a little, but when I saw this face on instagram I couldn't not follow.   Snoopybabe is just amazing.
