Are You Really Laughing Out Loud?

Funny Flirting Ecard: I'm somewhat skeptical you're laughing out loud as much as you claim.

One of my (many) pet peeves is when I get an email from a co-worker and it has LOL or some other ridiculous nonsensical slang or text term.  It grates on my nerves!  This afternoon my boss called me into his office to ask me what "samesies" meant.  I looked at him with a tilted head, put my hands on my hips and replied "huh?" with an extremely confused look on my face.  He proceeded "S - A- M - E - S - I - E - S."  I had to google it.  Has Urban Dictionary replaced Merriam Webster and no one told me about it?  WTF?!?!?!

In case you are wondering according to Urban Dictionary "samesies" is "a cooler way of saying 'me too'. Usually used when trying to sound lame in order to get a laugh out of the person you are trying to impress. Also used by dudebroze."  "Dudebroze?"  HUH?

You may want to bookmark Urban Dictionary.

Sunday Lusts

I had a rather difficult time narrowing down my list of Sunday Lusts this week.  (I should have never read People Style Watch before drafting this post!)  Needless to say, these items made the cut against some pretty tough competition.

Body Brush Extension Handle
Clarisonic Plus Sonic Skin Cleansing System and Body Brush Extender - I am so in love with my Sonic Mia that I would love to get the Plus for face and body and the brush extender.

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel - I have always wanted to try Mario Badescu products, but never had.  As someone with "problem" skin, it has always responded well to enzyme products.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray - This is part dry shampoo part texturizer to control oils in dirty hair and give clean hair an instant lift. I have been wanting to try a texturizing spray and since this also doubles as a dry shampoo, it does double duty.

Fold-Over Clutch Bag, glint & gleam - I have been lusting over this clutch for a couple of months now.  Every time I go to buy it, it is sold out.  It is finally available on so I may just have to bite the bullet and buy it.

NIKE FREE RUN+ 3 Women's Running Shoe, Hot Punch/Reflective Silver-Sol-Volt - I don't really have a good pair of sneakers.  These are so cute and girly in hot punch.

NARS - Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner
NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner, Rue Bonaparte - light almond - I'm not good with eyeliner.  It always ends up all over my under eyes and I end up with the worse case of raccoon eyes imaginable.  I do like beige eyeliner on my water line to make my eyes poop.  It also works to make your eyes appear whiter.

Revlon Color Stay Nail Enamel, Passion Pink - I always see this color in the Revlon ads in magazines and love the color, but I always forget to look for it at the drugstore.  It looks amazing on Emma Stone in the ads.

What's In My Bag

I bought a new purse today.  For me, its not very surprising considering I am obsessed with handbags and switch them out constantly.  I didn't mean to buy a new bag, but it was on sale and I couldn't pass it up. The bag is actually small compared to what I am used to, so I had a hard time fitting everything in there.

1.   Double Zip Bowling Bag, ZARA

I only bought this because it was on sale at ZARA for $39.99, half the price of the original $79.99 price tag. I love the taupe color because I can wear it with both black and brown tones. It also has a ton of pockets which means it will take be even longer to fine something in it!

2.   Wellesley Stacy Wallet, Kate Spade

I got this to "downgrade" from my Ted Baker wallet.  I wanted something less bulky and while this is long, it is quite compact.  It has several slots of cards, but it doesn't really hold bills that well.

3.   Tiffany 1837 Round Sunglasses, Tiffany & Company

These are my prescription sunglasses that I got from Lenscrafters last year.  I try to wear my contacts as much as possible, but I can't wear them to work because the air and fluorescent lights really dry out my eyes.

4.   Diane von Furstenberg Beauty Dahlia's Garden Blue Dome Bag
Diane von Furstenberg Beauty Dahlia's Garden Blue Dome Bag
I got this from Sephora a million years ago.  It has to be at least 6 years old.  It is a good nylon-like material so it easily cleans with a wet clothes

5.   Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powder, Mirror, Refresh Optive Advanced, Advil, Too Faced Lip Insurance, kissing elixirs Natural Fresh Breath Mist, Maybeline Great Lash clear mascara, Tide to go mini, Laura Mercier Lip Balm, L'Oreal Colour Riche Colour Caresse in Blushing Sequin, Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candy Glossy Balm in Tandy Mandarine, Anatasia Brow Whiz in Brunette, Jouer Essential Eye Clarifier

I have a bit of an obsession with lip products, so the fact that there are only 4 in my purse right now that all serve different purposes (print, lip balm, lipstick and lip gloss) it shocking.

6.   Wet Ones Antibacterial Hand Wipes, Yes to Cucumber Soothing Facial Towelettes

I am not a germaphobe, but you never know when you need an antibacterial wipe, or when you need to wipe something down. I also always keep a small pack of face towelettes, especially in the summer time, in case I want to freshen up my makeup and start with a clean face, or in case it gets sticky and I just want to wipe everything off.

7.   Filofax Osterley Compact Leather Organizer Wine Plum

Even though I have an iPhone, I prefer to write things down rather then type in my notes or reminders.  I only keep two sections in my filofax, a week on two pages calendar and notes.  The compact is a great size for my purse because it is not as small as the pocket, but just slight smaller then the personal.  (The rings size is smaller)

8.   Kleenex Brand Facial Tissues - I am such a nana with tissues.  I get horrible seasonal allergies so I always have a pack.

9.   iPhone 4S with Rose Gold Marc by Marc Jacobs Metallic Stardust Logo iPhone Case

Like everyone else on the planet I have an iPhone 4S (in white).  I have always been obsessed with white cell phones so when the white iPhone came out, I knew I had to have it.  While I have a problem with iPhone cases (check out my previous post here) I am currently using the Rose Gold Marc by Marc Jacobs Metallic Stardust Logo iPhone Case.  This is my goto case.  I have been using it for several months and it has held up well.

10.   REBECCA MINKOFF 'Can't Buy Me Love' Cory Pouch, wine with gold

I have a lot of pockets.  I think everything to have a place.  I use this small pouch to store my business cards, splenda, receipts, coupons, etc

11.   Business Cards, Splenda - (Stored in my Rebecca Minkoff pouch)  I use Splenda in everything but something I can't find it at restaurants or coffee shops so I keep it with me.  These packets aren't actual splenda but the Target branded equivalent.

12.   Tums Freshers Antacid - I more so keep these for other people . . . in case someone needs one.  They also double as breath mints.

13.   Laura Mercier Crème de Pistache Hand Cream
Laura Mercier - Crème de Pistache Bath & Body Collection
I am obsessed with the smell of this.  I want the entire line.  It smells DELICIOUS!!!

14.   iPod Touch with Juicy Couture Cherries Case

I can't get through the day with out listening to music.  Even though I have an iPhone, I still use my iPod for tunes.  It goes from my bedside to the car to my office and back again.  Despite how many iPhone cases I have, I have had this case since I bought my iPod almost 2 years ago.

All Things Awesome This Week

2012 Olympic Games: Opening Ceremonies - Everything about the opening ceremonies was amazing.

Matching with Friends - Matching with Friends is definitely my new favorite app.  I have always been a fan of puzzle games over word games.  Matching with Friends takes Words with Friends and turns it into a puzzle.

Double Zip Bowling Bag, ZARA - I love ZARA handbags.  They are so well made and very on trend.  I was looking to purchase a new handbag today when I went into ZARA, but this one was marked down to $39.99 from it's original $79.99 price tag (half off!) that I just couldn't not get it.  I love the taupe color because it goes well with both black and brown tones and it has so many pockets and it was made for me.

Coconut Collection, Yankee Candle - I am usually not big on coconut, but this collection smells great.  I picked up the No. 1 Coconut & Sea Air and No. 3 Coconut & Mandarin today.  Coconut & Mandarin is my favorite.  Both scents are great summer smells.

Rob's Really Good Swirling Cucumber Drink - I love all things cucumber; cucumber eye pads, cucumber sandwiches, cucumber margaritas.  Rob's Really Good Swirling Cucumber Drink is very refreshing and tastes great.

Dancing with the Stars: All Stars - The Dancing with the Stars All Stars cast was revealed this week and I cam SO EXCITED! I don't want to wish the rest of the summer away, but I can wait for it to debut on September 24th.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that
you're an expert on my
life. Wait a minute
while I get a pen to
take notes. - My new favorite website.  It is like but cruder!

What were the places, faces and spaces that rocked your world this week?

Perfume Collection

I started wearing perfume in the second grade.  First it was my mother's Chanel then I got my very own bottle of Love's Baby Soft.  (I was 7)  It wasn't long before I was wearing Calvin Klein.  In fact I think I may have been the only girl in my 5th grade class wearing Escape.

My obsession  with perfume probably came from my mother's belief that it was sacrilege to leave the house without spritzing a little something behind the ears . . . "they may not remember how you looked, but they will remember how you smelled." Needless to say, I have worn a variety of different scents throughout the years.

While I have been wearing some of these for years, my current collection consists of 8 perfume.  I don't think it is allot for someone who is never without it, but I tend to wear the same scent(s) every day.

Chance, Chanel (Eau de Parfum) - I have been wearing Chance since it came out over a decade ago.  It is probably one of the only perfumes that I have purchased over and over again.  For a while it was my signature scent, but as more and more of my friends started wearing it, I stopped wearing it as much.  Every once and a while when I do wear it, I remember how much I love it.  I do prefer the Eau De Parfum over the Eau de Toilette.  While it is a bit more pricey, it smells much better.

It's your chance . . . TAKE IT! A decidedly young scent . . . for those who dare to dream. The most powerful, concentrated and long-lasting form of fragrance; a constellation of orbiting scents. Floral notes merge with sensual, sweet and spicy elements for a hint of sexiness and delicious naughtiness.

Salvatore Ferragamo Attimo L'Eau Florale - This is one of my current favorites that I wear just abut every day.  I don't typically like scents full of florals but this one is very soft and sweet and have a nice fruity scent.  I also like how no one else I know where this so it is completely my own scent.  I wore this yesterday and while getting coffee I was stopped and told how great it smelled.

Fresh top notes of lotus blossom, Nashi pear, and kumquat fade into a floral peony, rose, and jasmine middle. As your body temperature warms up the fragrance, it develops and reveals woody base notes of frangipani flower, patchouli, and white musk.

Stella, TOCCA Eau de Parfum - This is another one of my current faves and one that I wear regularly.  It is a great light summer fragrance.   I get a lot of compliments when I wear this.

This scent blends light notes like white freesia and watery accord with warm notes of blood orange, sheer musk, and sandalwood. It’s slightly sweet with just the right amount of spice, and lasts for hours.
Marc Jacobs - Lola Marc Jacobs
Lola, Marc Jacobs - This is another perfume I have worn since it was first introduced.  I first bought it because I loved the bottle and knew it would look gorgeous on my bureau.  Like Chance, so many people wear it so I don't wear it that often as I like to have my own scent that other associate with me.

This warm floral bouquet conveys the free spirit of today's sexy, modern girl - she is playful, cool, and flirtatious. The long-lasting, day-and-night scent opens with pink peppercorn, pear, and ruby red grapefruit. Blooming midnotes of rose, fuschia peony, and geranium make a feminine statement. Layers of vanilla, warm tonka bean, and creamy musk create a sensuous drydown.

Gucci - Eau de Parfum II
Eau de Parfum II, Gucci - I love this scent so much. It is such a unique scent, very sexy and sweet. I don't have much left of this one and only use it when I really want to mix things up.  This is definitely an evening scent for me

A companion to the original Eau de Parfum, Eau de Parfum II is a soft, fruity floral that sparkles with notes of mandarin, blackcurrant, violet, and blackberry, smoothed with jasmine, heliotrope, and cedarwood. Playful, yet elegant. Notes: Mandarin, Bitter Orange, Blackcurrant, Violet, Blackberry, Jasmine, Heliotrope, Cedarwood. Style: Radiant. Captivating. Timeless.

English Pear & Freesia Cologne, Jo Malone - I wanted this because I really love the scent of pear and thought it would be great paired with Freesia.  It is a very pretty scent although I can probably count no one hand the number of times I have worn it.  Not because I don't like it, but because I have so many other perfumes that have much more of a WOW factor then this.

Inspired by a walk in an orchard, secluded within a walled garden, discover an evocative fragrance of delicate contrasts: the crisp skin of the pear against the succulent juiciness beneath...the clarity of the season's first mists, meeting and melding with the warmth of golden, dappled sunshine. Experience the surprising, sensuous freshness of sweet pears, wrapped in a bouquet of white freesias, on a subtle background of scrambling wild roses and skin-warming amber, patchouli and woods.

Harvey Prince Eau Flirt - I am a firm believer that no perfume is for everyone.  That is why you really have to go to the store and try scents out and test them on your own chemistry.  I took a huge gamble with this one and bought this scent completely unknown.  I heard about it and was very intrigued to try it but couldn't find it anywhere in my area.  I bought it online and I absolutely LOVE it!  It combined lavender and pumpkin, which sounds kind of scary, but according to the folks at Harvey Prince the notes have been shown to evoke a more passionate response in men than any other smell. Experts believe men subconsciously associate pumpkin and lavender with happy, positive and stimulating memories.  I can't say it works, but it smells delicious.

Though it feels carefree, this scent has been meticulously calibrated to turn up the heat. It combines pumpkin and lavender, two seemingly ill-matched notes that have been clinically proven to spur passionate reactions in men. Olfactory theory aside, we love the combination of seductive jasmine and freesia with sumptuous nutmeg, cinnamon, and amber.

Philosophy - Falling In Love Fragrance
Falling In Love Eau de Toilette Spray, Philosophy - I picked up the small .5 oz bottle of this while at Sephora a while ago.  I loved the sweet candy smell of the blackberries and vanilla and wanted to try it out.  I usually use this as a room spray as it smells so good you will want to eat it!

A lush combination sure to send any heart a flutter, this blend of vanilla, soft florals, and ripe berries goes on sweet and dries down sexy. Notes: Vanilla, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, Musk, Blackberry. Style: Fresh. Sexy. Clean.

As I mentioned, I am a firm believer of trying out a scent before you buy.  What smells great on your BFF might not smell the same on you (and vice versa).  When I want to test a new perfume, or am in the market for a new one, I usually stop into Sephora and spray my wrists before doing other shopping.  After the scent sits for a bit, I can then decide what is for me.  You really need to give it time to sit on your skin and let it work with your body chemistry.  When smelling different scents, be sure to sniff  the jar of coffee beans on the counter.  Coffee beans clears your nose in between scents and increases your sensitivity to the perfume.

Open Door Policy?

I did something today that I very rarely do.  I closed my office door.  We have a culture at my work that our doors are always open and they always are.  No one closes their door unless they have a meeting or absolutely can not be disturbed unless their is a fire outside, and even then it's kind of a gray area as to whether or not you really do need to close your door. With so many interruptions during the day, sometimes I just want to get up and slam the door in someone's face but I never do.  Needless to say, it felt pretty great to close it for 30 minutes . . . especially since I closed it to NOT work.

If you like Birchbox on Facebook, you probably know that they are having a contest to win a limited edition Rebecca Minkoff for AHAVA tote filled with a collection of their favorite AHAVA products.

If you haven't already entered, head over to FB or click HERE to enter.

Sunday Lusts

Capri Blue Mercury Glass Jar Candle, Volcano
- This candle smells AMAZING!  And I love Mercury so it is like getting two things in one!

Marine Cluster Earrings
- When I was a kid my grandfather gave me a jewelry box full of my grandmother's old costume jewelry.  These earrings remind me of most of the vintage jewelry in that box.

Midlife Crisis at 30: How the Stakes Have Changed for a New Generation--And What to Do about It - At 30 former vice-presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro was a stay-at-home mother. Founder and CEO of Oxygen Media Geraldine Laybourne was working at a public interest think tank for teachers. Political strategist Mary Matalin was a first-year law student-- and about to drop out. And months prior to her thirtieth birthday, financial strategist and best-selling author Suze Orman was working as a waitress, making $400 a month.

Marc by Marc Jacob Classic Q Key Pouch - I saw this are Barney Co-op the other day.  The color is absolutely beautiful.

Close this window
June Jacobs Perfect Pumkin Peeling Enzyme Masque - I have used this once before and it made my skin flawless.  It is described as Paraben and preservative free, this spicy, detoxifying masque contains a powerful pumpkin enzyme to digest dead surface cells, stimulating cellular turnover and improving skin’s tone and texture. It literally targets the dead skin cells and eats away at them.  It leaves your skin so smooth and soft.  This is a wonder product!

July Birchbox

I received my July earlier this month.  They usually ship around the 10th but I go my box on the 9th so they were really early at shipping them out.   I wanted to try out the products, or at least most of them, before I did a post about it.

For those of you that do not know, Birchbox is a subscription service that costs $10 a month for 4-5 deluxe sized beauty and lifestyle samples. You can then purchase the full size product on Birchbox's website. If you purchase the product within the same month you that it is featured in your Birchbox, it ships for free.

This month, Birchbox partner with Glamour Magazine, whose July issue celebrates the five sense of summer.  Birchbox kept with that theme for their July box.  All feature items represented one of the five senses.

I have to say, the box was pretty impressive this month.  I received 4 deluxe sample products and 2 "Lifestyle Extras."  (Each month Birchbox includes 1 or 2 lifestyle products that go beyond cosmetics or beauty products.) My samples included Alterna Bamboo UV+ Color Protection Fade-Proof Fluide, Dr. Jart+ Waterfuse BB Cream, Sile lip glaze, Suki Nourishing Kit, Larabar Uber, and Earbuds.  Each sample represents one of the five sense.

The samples are described as follows:

Alterna Bamboo UV+ Color Protection Fade-Proof Fluide (Sense of Touch) - This finishing gloss prevents UV rays from fading color while organic bamboo extracts keeps hair strong and soft.  Full size (pictured), $24

This smells amazing.  I only used it once, so I can't say how well it works ass far as anti-fading, but it did make my hair soft.

Dr. Jart+ Waterfuse BB Cream (Sense of Sight) - This lightweight moisturizer, serum, sunscreen, and skin-perfecting tine is the (extremely stylish) Swiss Army Knife of your beauty lineup.  Full size (pictured), $32

I didn't actually open the box this came in, but I bought a sample size on eBay to try when I first heard about this BB Cream.  Unfortunately it is way to light for my skin tone.  I am usually a light/medium and this was just way to light.

Stila Lip Glaze (Sense of Sight) - This tropical shade from the Tiki Lip Glaze Trio combines sheer color with mega-watt shine.  Set of 3 (pictured), $12

I got this in the color hibiscus.  It is a very pretty pinky bronze color. (see below)  I received a pretty good size.  The sample size is .05 fl oz.  According the, the full size is .04 fl oz.  I think that might be a typo because it seems weird that the sample would be bigger and Sephora has the full size listed at .08 fl oz.  Either way .05 fl oz, is a pretty good size.

Suki Nourishing Kit (Sense of Smell) - With fresh botanical scent, this all-in-one set uses natural ingredients to hydrate and brighten skin.  Full size (pictured), $50

LÄRABAR® über (Sense of Taste) - The latest addition to our snack drawer, these healthy and satisfying bars are packed with dried nuts and fruits. Variety Pack of 16, $27.95

I tried this for the sake of trying it.  I'm not very big on fruit and nut bars but this wasn't terrible.  It was edible, but not for me.

Birchbox Exclusive Earbuds (Sense of Sound) - We designed these neon headphones just for your.  Pair them with your best playlist.

How cute are these?  The sound quality on these are decent and they are so cute in neon blue and pink!

Do you get Birchbox?  What did you get this month and what was your favorite item?
